Cellulite – Why You’ve got it and He Doesn’t!
While some guys do have cellulite, 80-90% of women will eventually suffer from cottage cheese or orange-peel looking areas, most often on our butts, thighs and hips which many women find unsightly and unattractive. Why do so many ladies have to have such bumpy, lumpy skin and guys who usually do nothing for their skin don’t get cellulite at all? It’s so unfair!
There are several possible reasons why, due to subcutaneous tissue physiology differences between women and men. Females have connective fibers holding adjacent cells together organized in a perpendicular pattern which allows fat cells to expand in a rectangular pattern. Men’s fat cells fibers are zig-zagged, constricting fat cells diagonally.
Some researchers believe the female hormone cycle also plays a role, as estrogen increases during the menstrual cycle could lead to the destruction of subcutaneous connective tissue. Weight gain doesn’t necessarily cause cellulite but can make cellulite appearance more obvious due to larger fat cells.
