How To Keep New Years Resolutions

Every year we set up goals to improve our lives in the following year ahead. Unfortunately many of those New Year’s resolutions don’t make it more than a few weeks. Let’s go over some proven strategies to help you keep your 2020 resolutions!
Be sure you have clearly defined and made realistic resolution choices with a specific timeframe. When you take the time to define the terms of what you would like to accomplish you will be more likely to reach them.
For example, if you want to lose weight, you will set a goal of what you will eat, what exercise you will perform and milestones for each goal.

Make Evidence Based Resolution Choices
When making your resolution decisions, stay away from fads and stick to proven choices. Crash diets have poor long term results but a carefully designed plan to add more fruits and vegetables to each meal is known to be effective. Start eating the veggies first and limit the breads and other carbohydrates.
Hold Yourself Accountable
Journaling your performance towards your goals is hugely motivating. When we see our successes and failures right in front of us on paper we can’t avoid those results - they are right in front of us!
Research has shown when we write things down on paper our brains remember more than when we type those words electronically so keep a paper journal.
Do What You Enjoy
It’s okay to pick a resolution you enjoy and reward yourself for your successes.
Set milestone rewards. For example, if you met your goal of exercising at least four days for 30 minutes, use a template like this for your 3 month plan!
