Ultra Lift – High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)

Featured Image

Ultra Lift is a nonsurgical skin-tightening treatment using high intensity focused ultrasound energy to gently heat the tissue and stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen, tightening and lifting the skin. HIFU technology is FDA-cleared for the neck, chin, brow, and chest areas, although some doctors also use it on other parts of the body, such as the stomach and above the elbows or knees.

The Ultra Lift at Forever Slender MedSpa in Wayland, MA and Norton, MA is also known as a nonsurgical facelift. While results can be tremendous, postponing the need for surgery for many years, patients should be realistic as improvement will not be the same as a facelift.

The ideal candidate has skin that’s started to look less firm, with a lowered brow line, sagging neck skin, or jowling. Patients with mild to moderate skin laxity will find the Ultra Lift most beneficial.

Ultra Lift Pros and Cons

  • Ultra Lift doesn’t affect the top skin layer, minimizing side effects and downtime.
  • The Ultra Lift is ultrasound-based, using heat energy in the subcutaneous (deep) tissue. As a newer technology, Ultra Lift has been often been described as less painful than similar machines currently on the market
  • You may see immediate improvement, but benefits increase for two to three months.
  • Safe for all skin types and tones.

  • Some will find the Ultra Lift painful, especially for those with metal fillings. Most describe the Ultra Lift procedure more as uncomfortable than painful.
  • You’ll have to wait a few months to see full results.
  • Ultra Lift won’t replace the lifting and tightening of a surgical facelift.
  • While the procedure works around the eye, it doesn’t work on the eyelid skin.

An Ultra Lift session can take 30 to 90 minutes. After Ultrasound-conducting gel is applied to the skin, we will use a handheld transducer to deliver ultrasound energy into your skin at the precise depth to boost collagen production. We will adjust the treatment depth as the treatment progresses.

What should you expect during Ultra Lift recovery?

Typically, there’s no downtime after Ultra Lifting, though you can expect to see some slight swelling, redness, and (very rarely) bruising. You may feel a bit sore or tingly in the treated areas for anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks afterward. Many people see immediate improvement as the heat energy causes collagen fibers to constrict. Over the next 3 to 12 months your body will increase collagen production and add fullness.

How long will Ultra Lift results last?

You'll likely need to return for more Ultra Lift sessions as time goes on. The new collagen lasts for years, but you’ll be fighting the ongoing aging process and gravity. We expect most people to return every two years for an additional Ultra Lift treatment to maintain their results. Other patients who want to be more proactive and forestall skin aging will continue treatment when the skin has a hint of sagging, repeating treatment every six months.
